Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Dyer, IN
Our Patients Ask, We Answer
Knowledge is power – and when it comes to oral health, it’s the power to take control of your care and keep your smile looking and feeling the best it can be. At Advanced Dental Concepts, patient education is one of the pillars that our dental office is built on, and to that end we encourage you to ask any questions you have about oral hygiene and other dental topics. If you can’t find what you’re looking for among the common questions below, please give our dental office a call.
How often should I visit the dentist?
The normal answer is at least twice a year for checkups and cleanings, but people with gum disease or other persistent dental problems might need more frequent appointments. Regular preventive care is essential for getting rid of plaque and tartar, and it gives us a chance to look for cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, and other problems before they become too severe.
When should my child see a dentist for the first time?
The first appointment should take place as early as possible – ideally around your child’s first birthday or around the time their first tooth appears. During the first visit, we’ll simply check on your little one’s teeth and gums to make sure there aren’t any developmental issues at the moment. Normal checkups and cleanings, like the kind you receive, will begin around age 2.
One of my teeth really hurts. What should I do?
The first step is to see if there’s any food debris that you can remove by flossing or rinsing. In many cases, the pain will be caused by a crack or cavity, and the only solution will be to see a dental professional as soon as possible. Tooth infections and dental damage don’t get better on your own, so you should call us right away before the situation grows worse and harder to control.
How should I replace my missing teeth?
If dental implants are available, they’ll be our first recommendation for tooth replacement. They don’t just work as an aesthetic solution; among tooth replacements, the strength and stability they provide are as close to the real thing as possible. If you schedule a FREE dental implant consultation with us today, you can find out if dental implants are right for you.
Do I have to get metal braces to straighten my teeth?
Metal braces are no longer your only option for straightening teeth! Invisalign can correct a crooked smile, close gaps, and separate crowded teeth with discreet aligner trays that virtually disappear when worn. It’s a great way for adults to enjoy straighter teeth without being stuck wearing braces for several months or even a couple of years.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Our dental office is currently in-network with Delta Dental Premier, but we’ll also accept most major PPO plans as well even if they’re out of network. Not only will our team answer your insurance questions, but they’ll also handle all of the paperwork for you.
I don’t have dental insurance. Is there another way to make my care affordable?
Our Wellness Plan is our way of helping uninsured patients pay for their care. All you need to do is pay a discounted annual fee that covers preventive and general dental care for the rest of the year; you’ll also receive discounts for our other services with no deductibles or yearly maximums getting in your way.
